Black History Month: Sybil Harber

Today I want to talk about Sybil Harber.

Sybil lived in Lakeview, Oregon at the turn of the century and was a local business woman. She opened a bakery, then a boarding house, and finally a midwife nursery. However, she quickly recognized the town’s need for a medical facility as they had none-so she opened her doors to other kinds of patients.

Sybil is regarded as one of Oregon’s most prominent black pioneers/settlers.
